Travel and Transport
The oil industry has demanded that Aberdeen, and by extension Grampian, is exceptionally well served by first-class transport links. This is reflected in regular flights from Aberdeen airport to connections worldwide, the busiest harbour in the UK and the busiest heliport in the world. The need to get goods and services to the thriving oil businesses in Aberdeen has meant that road, rail (and sea) connections are swift and excellent so distance really is no object nowadays. In fact, you can have the best of both worlds, with sublime countryside on your doorstep but the wider attractions of Europe and the world just a flight away.
Travel within the Grampian region is also good, with a train service running north and west to Elgin and Inverness and a comprehensive network of bus routes and services operated by First Group and Stagecoach. Information on bus timetables can be obtained by contacting First on their website at www.firstaberdeen.co.uk or by visiting their travel centre: for information on Stagecoach’s services, please visit www.stagecoachbus.com
